Some position descriptions are in German. This is indicative for the German communication skills beeing required/advantageous in industrial cooperations/steering committees in these projects.

Typical (PhD) applications must contain a curriculum vitae, recent foto, full record of your education/scientific career including certificates and list of topics and marks obtaind in the courses taken, two referees who may be contacted (email/phone numbers), contact information (email, cell phone), and special interests/skills. Tell us why you feel that you are the most suitable candidate for this position.

A PhD position is currently open to start any time on "Special properties of bacteria and yeasts in lupine Moromi fermentation for spicing sauces", dealing with the salt tolerance and aroma formation of selected isolates and consortia.


A PhD position is currently open to start any time on "Control of meat spoilage by the use of Lactococcus piscium", dealing with spoilage microbiomes and contact inhibition by selected strains of this species.


A PhD position is tentatively starting late 2019 on  "Exploitation of lytic enzymes of Lactobacillus curvatus and Lactobacillus sakei for shaping of microbiomes in sausage fermentation", dealing prophages and lytic enzymes, mechanisms of their induction and contribution to assertiveness of starter strains.


Successful candidates should have a excellent background in microbial physiology, biochemistry and/or molecular biology/bioinformatics. For some projects our money giving parties expect written reports in fluent German.
